A former national Chairman of All Progressives Congress, John Odigie Oyegun has obtained the membership card of African Democratic Congress, ADC, weeks after his dumped Nigeria’s ruling party.
The development comes amid national conversations around coalition parties in Nigeria, with various opposition members alignment and realignment to challenge dominant forces in 2027 general elections.
The first Civilian Governor of Edo State, obtained his ADC membership card at the party’s State Secretariat on Tuesday in Oredo Local Government Area of the State.
The Octogenarian and former ally of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, was accompanied to the State Secretariat of ADC with his supporters, coalition movement stakeholders and grassroots mobilizers.
Addressing party faithful, members of the coalition and his supporters, Oyegun revealed that ADC is on a salvage mission and address the challenges facing the nation.
The coalition is driven by the demand for a purposeful leadership and good governance, according to Oyegun who stressed that “ADC is a movement. It’s driven by by the people”.
The Edo State chairman of ADC, Kenneth Odion, assured that Oyegun’s joining the party, will boost the credibility of ADC’s coalition, ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria.
“This thing is a movement. It’s something that cannot be resisted. ADC is large enough to either resist or accommodate anybody”, Odion said.
A former mobilizer for Asue Ighodalo 2024 Edo State governorship campaign Organization, and a Chieftain of ADC, Christopher Ojeikere, asked Nigerians to brace up for surprises in the days ahead for 2027 general elections.
