Osun LGAs heading for shut down, NULGE warns

Date:

National Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, says the third tier of government in Osun State may shut down over withheld monthly statutory Federation Account allocations to the State.

Aliyu Kankara, NULGE President General, described the action as an affront to July 2024 on Supreme Court judgement that granted financial autonomy to 774 Local Government Areas in Nigeria.

In a Communique of the Union’s National Executive Council meeting in Abuja, the nation’s Capital, Kankara, appealed to President Tinubu to release the monthly statutory Federation Account allocations meant for State LGAs, not to stall grassroot development.

The union also condemned the demolition of its Secretariat in Abuja, which it said has disrupted the union’s administrative activities to its members nationwide.
