Okpebholo vows to employ school teachers

The Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the September 21st 2024 Edo State governorship election, Senator Monday Okpebholo has vowed to employ additional teachers in public schools across the State if he is elected.

Senator Okpebholo, representing Edo Central Senatorial District said this on Tuesday at an interactive session with Correspondents’ Chapel members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Edo State Council in Benin City.

He assured that teachers will enjoy less stress, better pay in transforming the Education sector in the State improve schools’ infrastructure.

Okpebholo noted that the Edo Basic Education Sector Transformation (EdoBEST) scheme of Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration in the State, is EdoBest scam.

He attributed the setback to failure of the government to address the problem of teaching vacancies in Edo State Basic Education level that is at a record high.

The APC Candidate further stated that
lacked basic infrastructure in public schools, lend credence to concerns by Stakeholders in education sector reform.

“There is nothing in the much-talked-about EdoBEST education reform in the state, a better reform is nothing once APC takes over,’’ he said.

“Many schools need classrooms and teachers. Regrettably, there is a ratio of two teachers to more than 200 students in some of our schools.

“These are critical areas we will look into when I emerge. We will set the ball rolling with strong education reform”, Senator Okpebholo said.

He further pleaded with agitators of planned nationwide protests on August 1st to be patience with President Bola Tinubu economic policy will succeed.
