Obaseki’s messenger loses teeth in road crash

Tom Obaseki, chairman of Oredo Local Government Council’s messenger, has reportedly lost his teeth during a road accident in Benin City, Edo State.

A top Council official simply identified the victim as Solomon, who was sent an errand by his boss (Obaseki) when his vehicle got involved in the crash last week.

Source said the Council staff close from work when he was called after by his boss who allegedly asked him to the Council Secretariat where he sent him an undisclosed errand.

Members of National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Oredo Local Government Council have decried the alleged failure by Obaseki to either pay his medical bills or reach out to the victim who is still at a health facility in Benin.

Medical experts are considering fitting artificial teeth in the victim’s cavity as a correction measure after treating other health complications having lost his teeth.

TheNewspad reports that aggrieved Council workers are threatening showdown with the Council boss, who is a Cousin to the immediate past Governor of the State, Godwin Obaseki.

Tom Obaseki was not available as at the time Newspad team sought his reaction to this report on Thursday.

Similarly, a hit-and-run driver knocked a grandmother to her death four days ago at Ugbekun Primary school area at Upper Sokponba, in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area.

The victim known as ‘Mama Tony’, was trekking on her way to get condiments when a Lexus SUV car, suddenly emerged from nowhere crushed the grandmother to death.

It was gathered that the accident occurred shortly after the grandmother handover her grand child which she earlier strapped on her back to her relative before stepping out of her shop around the neighbourhood.

“She was going to buy an article to prepare source her pomo meat around the neighbourhood”, a family member said.

She also said, “The Lexus SUV car escaped after knocking her and dragged her on the tarred road before hitting her body in a gutter. She died on-the-spot”.

“She just gave her grandchild she carried on her back to her neighbour before stepping out of her shop on that fateful day.
The woman should be in her 60’s. It’s really a painful time to us. We’re not just only related, but close friends”, she said.
