Oba of Benin suspends Priest, reaffirms appointment of Okao

Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin has suspended the traditional Priest of Unuamen Village, Chief Sunday Sidney Enoma from his position as the Ohen-Ovia of Unuamen

in Ovia North East Local Government Area for violating the Custom and traditional of Benin.

The suspension of the traditional Priest is contained in Press statement signed by Osaigbovo Iguobaro, the Chief Press Secretary to the Oba of Benin.

“Enoma, was suspended for his unbecoming attitude that undermines the Benin Customs and tradition”, according to the statement Omo N’ Oba Ewuare who also reaffirmed Chief Kingsley Igbinosa as the Okao (traditional head) of Unuamen Village.

The Royal father described the claim by the suspended Priest that he “usually installs the Okao of the Village as baseless and abominable, clarifying that all Chieftaincy titles in Benin kingdom are conferred by the Oba”.
