Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, Oba of Benin has offered special prayers at sacred heritage sites across Benin City as part of activities marking his 10th anniversary on the throne of his forebears.
The traditional rites, which highlight the deep cultural history of the Benin, were performed by Ewaise palace group, accompanied by horse riders that featured at last Saturday’s Durbar.
In a strategic move to deepen spiritual connection and seek blessings for the prosperous years ahead, the delegation visited key historic sites, including the sacred Usama Palace through Ode-Obaiwu and the Iyoba statue in Uselu.
Chief Ogbemudia Emovon, the Aghamioba N’ Ewaise of Benin, led the delegation as they made rounds and invoked spirits of the land to bear witness while offering prayers at Queen Emotan and the Queen Iden tombs in Iwebo street.
The spiritual exercise concluded at the main palace gate with propitiation and prayers to God and the royal ancestors for peace, unity, and protection over the realm.
