Oba of Benin directs Iguogie Duke to oversee  Evbolekpen Dukedom

Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin has directed Festus Osagie Aiyeki, the Enogie (Duke) of Iguogie Dukedom, Festus Osagiede Aiyeki to oversee the affairs of the neighbouring Evbolekpen Dukedom in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State on his behalf.

This followed the indefinite suspension of the Enogie of Evbolekpen, Chief Ebabulele Obanosa by the Oba and others who led rebellion against Benin monarchy.

Aiyeki, who has being presiding over Iguogie, Igue-otor, Igue-Edobor, Evboro villages, will in addition oversee Evbolekpen Dukedom in collaboration with the elders the area, under the new arraignment, according to Oba Ewuare’s directive, which was conveyed by Chief Stanley Obamwonyi, the Esere of Benin in gathering of the affected village elders in Oba Palace in Benin City.

Esere who was joined by other Palace Chiefs, directed Aiyeki in the presence of elders of Iguogie and Evbolekpen villages, to oversee Evbolekpen in line with Oba Palace authority.

“You are aware that the Enogie of Evbolekpen has been suspended by the Oba. Iguogie Dukedom is not far from you.
“Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin has directed us to tell you that from This day that the Enogie of Iguogie is to oversee Evbolekpen on his behalf”, he said.

Chief Esere advised the
Enogie of Iguogie to work with elders of Evbolekpen led by its Odionwere, Pa. Gabriel Ukhure and shun unlawful activities, stating that Oba Ewuare is determined to reposition Benin Kingdom for the overall well-being of the people.

Chief Isaac Aghafua Oyeoba, the Oyeoba of Benin, clarified that Festus Osagiede Aiyeki is not an Okao (District head), but a Enogie.

He revealed that the Enogie was honoured by Oba Ewuare for not joining the suspended Enigie to betray the Oba, hence he was honoured by the Oba who is please with his conduct.

In his response, the Enogie of Iguogie, Festus Osagiede Aiyeki, promised to discharge his duties as prescribed by the Oba of Benin and promised development across the various villages under his watch.

Also speaking, the Odionwere of Evbolekpen, Pa. Gabriel Ukhure who spoke on behalf of Evbolekpen elders, promised to uphold the decision of the Oba strictly and thanked the Oba for his swift intervention.
