Oba of Benin declares blessings after 14-day fasting, prayers, prepares for new yam

Date:

Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin, has declared divine blessings following the successful conclusion of a 14-day period of fasting and prayers, as the monarch ruler prepares to welcome the new yam (Emorho).

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Osaigbovo Iguobaro, the revered monarch expressed gratitude to Nigerians for participating in the spiritual exercise, which ran from Monday, 14th September, to Sunday, 27th September, 2026.

The Oba offered heartfelt prayers that the new yam (Emorho) would bring abundant blessings, peace, and prosperity to the good people of Edo State and Nigeria at large.

Extending his appreciation to everyone who took part —as well as well-wishers who supported the spiritual journey — the statement confirmed that the new yam will be ushered into the Palace on Tuesday, 29th September 2026.

The statement reads: “The Omo N’Oba N’Edo prays for all those who participated in the fasting and prayer as well as those who did not.

“The general public should note that tomorrow, Tuesday, 29th September, 2026, the new yam will be ushered into the Palace.

“The Omo N’ Oba prays that this new yam (Emorho) will be a blessing to the good people of Edo State in particular and, Nigeria in general”, according to Oba Ewuare.
