Oba of Benin calls for ritual against calamity

Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin has called for a traditional ritual known as “Bisusu”, to ward-off calamity in Edo State, ahead of Saturday September 21st State governorship election, which is the motivation behind the spiritual exercise.

In a statement, Chief Stanley Obamwonyi, the Esere of Benin issued on behalf for the Oba on Wednesday, directed all his Chiefs, Enigie (Benin Dukes), (Ikao), Igie-Ohen (Benin traditional Priests of various deities and Edionwere (village heads) in Benin to use traditional items that are usually used for the ritual immediately.

Part of the statement reads, “The Ceremony should be carried out with immediate effect to wave away evil out of our land, especially before, during and after the forth-coming gubernatorial election in our dear State”.
