No Asiwaju cap, no entry’, Okpebholo taunts appointees in video

Date:

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has jokingly encouraged his Commissioners to put on caps that depicts their honour for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu not to be denied access to State Executive Council meetings in Government House in Benin City.

He dropped the hint while welcoming guests at the swearing-in ceremony of some newly appointed Commissioners and other State government officials on Tuesday in Government House, Benin City, Edo State.

“And you are wearing a traditional dress and you are coming to the exco without this Asiwanju cap, you are going back”, the Governor said.

Okpebholo who was decked in a caftan native wear, said while touching the round cap on his head, amid laughter by his supporters and fans.

The Governor’s comments caption in a few seconds video that captured some notable Benin Chiefs, who watched him scornfully without commenting at the ceremony, has kept Nigerians talking.

Recall that Governor had promised to deliver 2.5 million votes from Edo State for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027 general elections in Nigeria.

Professor Roland Itoyan Otaru, SAN, and other Commissioner who replaced Dr Samson Osagie as the State’s Attorney-General are among the Commissioners that were sworn-in by the Governor who enjoined them to hit the ground running for results.
