Nigerians kick over FG’s 100% passport fee hike

Nigerians are venting their frustrations over the 100 percent passport fee increase by the federal government, which takes effect from September 1st 2025.

Under the new in the cost of acquiring, a 32-page passport with five-year validity will cost ₦100,000, while the 64-page passport with 10-year validity will go for ₦200,000.

Fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged at $150 and $230 respectively, according to a statement endorsed by the Public Relations officer, AS Akinlabi.

In addition, the Nigerian Passport Application fees made by Nigerians in diaspora remain unchanged at $150 for 32-page with 5-year validity and $230 for 64-page with 10-year validity, according to the Service.

The Service also reiterates its commitment to balancing quality service delivery with the need to ensure Passport services are accessible to all Nigerians.
