Nigerian governor sacks aides after losing Senatorial and guber polls

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has sacked all all political appointees in the State, barely two months to his exit from office.

This followed the failure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governor to win his Senatorial election and install his successor, ending his party’s rule in the State since 1999.

The affected aides including Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants, Special Advisers and Technical Officers, are to get March 2023 stipends.

Chris Ezem, the Secretary to the State Government, in a statement said the State Accountant General, has been directed to prepare payment vouchers for the entitlements of the aides.

Recall that Alex Otti, Candidate of Labour Party (LP) won the governorship election in Abia State during March 18 2023 governorship election in the State.
