Doyin Abiola, wife of the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola – the acclaimed winner of June 12, 1992 Presidential election in Nigeria, transited late Tuesday 5th August.
Doyin died 27 years after the death of her husband on July 7, 1997 at age 60 during the struggle to regain his stolen mandate.
82-year-old veteran journalist, was the Managing director/editor-in-chief of the defunct Concord Newspapers in 1986, three years after she work with the Daily Sketch Newspaper.
As reported, she was a recipient of Diamond Awards for Media Excellence (DAME) for her lifelong devotion to advancing the frontiers of knowledge and strengthening the media as a pillar of democracy.
The deceased was the Chairperson of the Awards Nominating panel at the first Nigerian Media Merit Award to be hosted in Nigeria.
She was also a member of Advisory Council, Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, Ogun State University before her death.
