Military officer in tears over missing daughter on Valentine’s day in Edo

A military officer who identified himself as Akhigbe broke down in tears on Tuesday at the Corporate headquarters of Independent Television/Radio station, Iguosa in Benin City.

His action drew the attention of the Organization’s staffers who became overwhelmed with emotions when the officer began to narrate his ordeal about the sudden disappearance of his 14-year-old daughter, Efe Mercy, who fled their home shortly after he smacked her for alleged misconduct.

Speaking on ITV Radio, Akhigbe said tension reached new heights when after he reprimanded Mercy, a year 2 student of Army Day Secondary school in Benin for refusing to do their dishes, which he later assigned to Mercy’s older sibling to undertake after his daughter’s refusal.

The highly devastated father stated that while he thought the issued has been laid to rest, Mercy disappeared from home without obtaining permission from anyone last Saturday February 14, 2026, which was on Saint Valentine’s Day.

He expressed regret over initial outburst towards his daughter whom he said loves to be pampered always, while appealing to her to our behind the past and return home, stressing, “I miss you my daughter’.

‘On Air Personalities, OAP’ to comfort him on studio, however burst into laughter over the mesmerizing action of the military officer during a brief interview session on the airwave.

“My daughter please return home. You will not wash plates henceforth. I will be doing the washing on myself. I will not punish you”, distraught Akhigbe, rolled bach his tears.
