Married father of two arrested after posing as Catholic Priest in Kenya

Date:

Law enforcement authorities have arrested a married father of two who allegedly infiltrated the Catholic Diocese of Lodwar, after successfully posing as an ordained Catholic Priest for an extended period in the church.

The suspect, identified as Jones Bogonko Onchonga, reportedly utilized a series of sophisticated, forged Church documents to present himself as a legitimate member of the Clergy to unsuspecting parishioners and church leaders.

Investigators state that Onchonga’s elaborate charade extended deep into the region’s religious infrastructure.

He is accused of illegally celebrating Mass and administering sacred sacraments across multiple locations, including St. Augustine Cathedral in Kalokol, St. Thomas Chapel, and St. Mary’s Lodaraja, without the knowledge of the local congregations of his true identity.

In an astonishing twist that has deeply shaken the local Catholic Community, Onchonga managed to breach the highest levels of church protocol.

Witnesses report that he was even seen celebrating Mass directly alongside the Catholic Bishop of Lodwar, Rt. Rev. John Mbinda, before his fraudulent activities finally came to light and triggered an official investigation.

Following the breakthrough in the case, the Diocese of Lodwar released a formal public notice authored by Bishop Mbinda.

The statement formally disowned Onchonga as a member of the Catholic priesthood, issuing a stern warning to the faithful to immediately cease any religious engagement with him and confirming that he performed all spiritual duties without authorization.

The shocking revelation has prompted intense scrutiny and soul-searching within the local church community, with many faithful questioning how a married civilian could evade detection for so long.

Meanwhile, police have launched a comprehensive investigation to trace the origin of the forged documents and determine how Onchonga gained unrestricted access to multiple parishes.
