Man stabs, bathes wife with hot oil in Ogun

Police operatives have arrested Sholola Kazeem, a resident of Owode Egba area in Ogun State, for allegedly bathing his wife, Sholola Mutiat, inflicting her with severe skin burns.

The prompt intervention of a Divisional Police Officer in Owode Egba Division in the case involving Gender-based violence and assault against the victim, leading to the arrest of her husband who also stabbed her on her head.

Spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Command, CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest of the suspect for “assault and occasioning harm” in a statement after the incident was reported at Owode Police Division on January 18, 2025, at about 12:20 hours.

The Gender-based violence was caused by uncontrollable anger over a misunderstanding, poured hot oil over his wife’s body and also stabbed her in the head”,
according to the police.

CPS Odutola said, “The victim was taken to Ore Ofé Hospital for medical attention, and the crime scene was examined.

“The suspect has been apprehended and is currently under investigation.

“Updates will be provided as more information becomes available”, she said.
