Police operatives have recovered bodies of its personnel allegedly killed during a clash with members of the proscribed Islamic Movement in Nigeria better known as Shiites on Sundays at Wuse market Abuja.
It was leant that a trader was also killed during the brutal attack where two policemen were also injured by the attackers.
According to Daily Trust, the Commissioner of Police, the Federal Capital Territory, CP Benneth Igweh, expressed displeasure that members of the sect has declared war on police personnel.
“You can see now that these people (Shiites) have killed my men.
“They even went ahead to injure two policewomen. In fact, they’ve even declared war on security operatives.
“We spoke to their lawyer, if you heard what he was saying, you would be shocked, you would know that these people have declared total war on us.
‘I want assure you that we won’t take that lightly, this is the last protest or procession they will carry out in FCT”, CP Igweh said.
But, the Commissioner of Police assured that the miscreants behind the attack will not go unpunished.
He also stated that some suspects linked the crime are on security radar, months after the police banned Shiites procession in Abuja.
TheNewspad reports that the fight led to pandemonium during the fight, while terrified residents and commuters who were caught in the melee scampered to safety.
