Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has declared that kidnapping him and other citizens won’t give opposition figures and other subversive elements behind violent crimes, including kidnappings ― access to the seat of power through subversive means, ahead of 2027 elections in Nigeria.
Okpebholo made the allegation at Edo South Local Government Campaign flag-off at Urhokpota Hall on Monday in Benin City, Edo State where he stated that Edo State is, no brainer for criminals.
He attributed development in the State to the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu, while lamenting crimes, including Oyo teachers and pupils abduction for ransom in Nigeria.
“It is settled in Edo State. Let them go; They can even kidnap me, yet, there will not be vacancy in Aso Rock. They can even kidnap all of us. Yet, there will be no vacancy in Aso Rock.
“What is happening today is the handiwork of opposition. They have failed. Have they not failed? Is it ny kidnapping children. Who are you planning to govern if everybody is kidnapped?
Let them give us peace so that we can rule over our Country very well. We are changing the narrative in Edo State. We are going to send a signal to criminals. We will let them know that Edo is a no go area” Okpebholo said.
Continuing, the Governor who demanded for the unconditional release of abducted teachers, pupils in Oyo State and other Nigerians in captivity immediately, said, “what are seing now in terms of development, we haven’t seen it since the past eight years.
“Those people that are seeking power should stop disturbing the President. Let them allow him to think on how to move Nigeria forward.
“Kidnappings cannot give them power. Kidnappings cannot give them Government House.
“Must you kidnap people to make statements? or let you people know that you are working?”, the Governor while reaffirming his pledge to deliver 2.5 million votes for the 2027 Presidential
Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu in the State.
