Nigeria police Command lead Investigator (name withheld) in Kebbi State has rejected the sum of N1, 060, 000 (One Million and Sixty Thousand Naira) bribe offered him to compromise investigation by three criminal suspects.
Accordingly, four male criminal suspects who conspired among themselves, Umaru Garba, Alhaji Abubakar, Alhaji Mamman and and Usman Muhammadu, involved in the alleged crime have been taken into police custody.
CSP Nafiu Abubakar confirmed this on Tuesday in a statement he issued on behalf of the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Bello M Sani who commended the officer for his exemplary act.
He said the lid was blown open at the premises of the State Criminal Investigation Department, State Headquarters, Gwadangaji, Birnin Kebbi, the State Capital.
CSP Abubakar alleged that 53-year-old Garba of Dangandu village along with Abubakar and Mamman, 51, of Maimaichi village, all of Arewa LGA, and 50-year-old Usman of Bakaramba village in Argungu LGA, “committed the alleged crime at about 1800hrs on 13th January, 2025”.
He said the quartet offered the rejected bribe to compromise the officer’s investigation and prosecution of a case of banditry perpetrated by alleged Lakurawa terrorists operating at the northern part of the State.
