Omo N ‘Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, Oba of Benin has reflected on the presence of United States security Forces in Nigeria; just as he expressed concern over the war, involving Iran, US-Israel and other nations of the world for power consolidation.
The first Class traditional ruler, dropped the hint when the newly deployed 4-Brigade Commander of the Nigerian Army, Benin, Major-General Ahmed Balogun paid him a courtesy call at his palace in Benin City.
Oba Ewuare, who served as Nigerian Ambassador to the Scandinavian nation and Italy before he ascended the throne of his forebears, prayed God almighty and his ancestors to protect Nigeria and US security forces from harm away.
“The American troops are in the Country assisting Nigeria military fight insurgency, according to Oba Ewuare, who pledge the support of traditional institutions to troops in the battlefield in defence of the territorial integrity.
Addressing the palace earlier, the 4-Brigade Commander of the Nigerian Army, Benin, Major-General Ahmed Balogun said the purpose of his visit is to notify the paramount traditional ruler in the State of his deployment to the Command and solicited prayer to enable him achieve the mandate of the agency.
He said, “when we go to places and meet people that support us to achieve our mandate in protecting and defending the nation. It is only customary that we acknowledge such support. And this is one of the reasons we are here to pay respect to the great Benin throne”.
“I am a Yoruba by tribe and I know that we share close affinity with the Benin throne. And way back in school, I read so much about great throne of the Oba of Benin”, Balogun said.
The Brigade Commander also showered praises on Oba Ewuare for his outstanding support and encouragement to other senior officers who accompanied since the past three months he assumed duty in Benin.
The same day, Oba Ewuare also received the Assistant Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS, Zone G, ACG Josephine Ogbefun and members of her Management team to solicit prayer and support of the Palace where Chief George Igiemwin Ekhator, the Obasogie of Benin, offered prayers on behalf of the Palace.
