INEC: Yakubu remains before end of 2025

 

Professor Mahmood Yakubu, remains the chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC spokesman said in a disclaimer in response to rumour of his sack by President Bola Tinubu.

The clarification was in response to a viral WhatsApp message, indicating that Mahmood was sacked and replaced with one Prof. Olamilekan via social media reports.

A misleading post reads, “INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmud Yakubu has been replaced with Prof. Bashiru Olamilekan by President Tinubu,” the message, which had no attribution”.

But, Rotimi Oyekanmi, the Chief Press Secretary CPS to the INEC Chairman, Mr Rotimi Oyekanmi, told Vanguard Newspaper “Please, disregard. It is not true”.

Yakubu, is rounding off his second tenure in office, and he is expected to exit the system towards the end of the year 2025.
