A former House of Representatives member in the 8th National Assembly, Hon. Omosede Gabriella Igbinedion, seems to be taunting her critics against her planned return to the same position if wins her Party nomination and elected.
On Friday, Omosede shared a photograph pledging her support for Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 21st governorship election in the State, Senator Monday Okpebholo expressed in a handshake with him.
TheNewspad reports that the incident happened when Okpebholo who made a surprise visit to her residence on Friday in Benin City, Edo State.
Omosede, dumped Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined APC shortly before the governorship election, has been tipped as the favourite for the job. But she seems to be facing a stiff opposition by some Stakeholders in the State and her party.
The coast for her political ascendancy became clearer after Senator Okpebholo’s running mate, Hon. Dennis Idahosa yielded his House of Representatives’ seat in Ovia Federal Constituency and ran for the post of State deputy Governor in the election, which he also won.
But, this beloved daughters of the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, is however yet formally disclose her aspirantion to seek the coveted position in the forthcoming 2025 bye-election for the Constituency to be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The popularity of the iconic legal luminary, soared when she represented Ovia Federal Constituency between 2011 and 2015 with her empowerment programmes and projects she attracted to the Constituency.
Serving her term in the youngest female member in the 8th Assembly, Omosede made impacts as Deputy Chairman House Services and a member of the Local Content, Aviation, Downstream Petroleum, FCT, Judiciary, Rural Development and Women In Parliament Committees.
On Friday evening, Omosede emblematize her memories in the hearts of the people of Ovia Federal Constituency, suggesting that her eyes are still on the ball as confirmed on her social media handles.
She wrote: “This evening I had a surprise visit from His Excellency, The Governor-Elect of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, as he returned to Edo ahead of his inauguration.
“I look forward to “a new Edo Rising” and am highly optimistic that both the Governor-Elect and Deputy Governor-Elect will transform Edo”, Omosede assured.
