Hunger protest: IGP invites Adegboruwa

The Inspector l-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun has invited human Rights lawyer, Eben-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN) in connection with the planned nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest against hunger slated for August 1st.

The invitation was in response to Adegboruwa’s letter addressed to the Inspector l-General of Police, urging the Nigeria Police to provide protection for protesters for the peaceful protest.

The IGP’ response letter dated July 29th 2024 signed by his Principal Staff officer (PSO), CP. Johnson Ademola, directed senior police officers to urgently attend to the request of the senior lawyer.

TheNewspad reports that the protest against economic hardship has being generating traction on social Media in the face of skyrocketing prices of foodstuffs and essential commodities.

The situation has become a source of worry to Nigerians who are battling one of its worst inflation rate and economic crisis triggered by the federal government twin economic policies — Petrol subsidy removal and the unification of the Exchange rate.
