How FG’s job applicant was duped N300m ―CP

A Nigerian citizen seeking a top federal government appointment has been duped the sum of N300 million by a suspected fraudster, Adeola Baderu in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State Command, CP Adekimi Ojo confirmed this during a Media briefing at the weekend in Ilorin.

The suspect claimed to be a powerful political figure with access to national offices, was arrested following a petition written to the police by the victim.

According to CP Ojo who stated that the money was given to the suspect in piecemeal, however did not disclose the name of the victim.

The police boss alleged that the suspect allegedly used forged documents to build trust and defrauded a huge sum of money from him under false presence.

The suspect went into hibernation after receiving the funds, but he tracked through Hitech equipment and arrested in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital by the police operatives.

During a comprehensive interrogation, the suspect, admitted to the crime, CP Ojo who wondered why the victim had to part with such amount of money, said, “it is N300 million.

“You will wonder how someone who can raise that amount of money be looking for federal government appointment or a job.

“The N300 million was given to the suspect in piecemeal by the victim. Aside from clothes and other things. We are going to do something about it”, according to the CP who assured that the criminal suspect will have his date in court when the investigation is completed by the police.

Similarly, the police Command also confirmed the arrest of 44 criminal suspects linked to various violence and financial crimes that were arrested in the month of August 2025 through coordinated intelligence operations and strong collaboration with local Communities.

A total of N2.7 million in cash sum and 50 rounds of A-K 47 ammunition and a Dane gun were recovered from some suspects during separate operations that were conducted by the Nigeria police Force.
