Heartwarming moment children show off dance skills at Oba palace on national day celebration

Date:

May 27 is observed every year as Children national Day – met to celebrate Nigeria’s heritage, promote unity, cultural diversity as well as highlights challenges affecting children – but questions about patriotism persists.

Their plights, however did not deter children from responding to His Royal Majesty, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, Oba of Benin’s invitation to this year children’s Day celebration party on Wednesday in Oba Palace in Benin City.

Excited children showed off their dancing skills and boogied along to disco tunes with friends, families at the royal event that reshaped itself around the Eid-el-Kabir festivities.

Fun-seekers during Sallah celebration, children in including students, participated in dance competition, shared tasty meals and got gifts along with their parents and guardians who were not left out at the event, where Oba Ewuare infant Princes and princess (Quadruplets) had their moment on the dance floor, amid cheers.

Addressing the children on behalf of the Benin palace, Chief Osaigbovo Osamwonyi (the Akenuwa of Benin) and Chief Victor Igbineweka (the Osayuwanoba of Benin) warned children against social vices and urged them to be obedient to their parents, guardians as responsible citizens.

They were also advised to put more effort in their academic work and make not only their parents proud, but the nation – Nigeria proud.

Palace functionaries, including security personnel, had hectic time in providing comfort for the children, without riding roughshod over sacred ground at the event.
