The Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has slammed social critics and members of Civil Society Organizations over poor evaluation index on President Bola Tinubu performance and his economic policies.

Wike made the assertion at This Nigeria Newspaper Lecture in Abuja where he reacted to claims by human Rights lawyer, Mike Ozekhome (SAN) and
Senator Shehu Sani who both sought end to hunger at the event.

During his lecture titled,
“25 years of uninterrupted Democracy in Nigeria: The prospects and possibilities”,
Ozekhome and Senator Sani, challenged leaders in Nigerian leaders to provide true leadership that will address the plights of Nigerians as and galvanize the youth population towards a better society.

Ozekhome had particularly entreated the President to accede to the cry of Nigerians over food crisis and other issue of concern that are confronting the nation at the event.

But, Wike berated Ozekhome over his poor assessment of the President’s reforms after one year in office, adding that the President takes credit for his performance as FCT being one of his appointees, and commend him for working hard to fix the battered economy by past administrations.

The former Governor of River State, berated the senior lawyer for accepting legal briefs from prominent Nigerians who rigged elections in Nigeria in exchange for money.

He lamented that the Senator Shehu Sani has little or nothing to show during his tenure in National Assembly.

According to him, “Mr President knows that there is a problem, that is why he brought renewed hope agenda. He knows that he must work hard to bring back that hope to Nigeria.

“If you think that Mr President just sit down and watch, let people not deceive you. Nigerians are suffering. That is no longer a story.

“We should go beyond theory and be practical. We shouldn’t just come to the public and begin to talk about what Nigerians want to hear and begin to clap hands.

“Mr President has being making a lot of efforts. We know where we are coming from. But, you should not expect that everything about the Country that was broken down to be corrected within a short time.

“Thank you (Ozekhome) for saying Abuja is doing well. So, if Abuja is doing well, that means every other States can be well.
“The main facts that you (critics) are arguing does not mean that Tinubu will not do well.

“Activists have always failed. We have seen activists that were given assignments, yet they failed. When you (Shehu Sani) were in Senate, how did we perform? What was our performance as Senators?

“And you (Ozekhome) has condemned rigging in an election. How many times have you rejected briefs from Clients?
“You have always defended those who rigged elections in Courts. So, it is not about postulating and postulating in public”, Wike said.
