A security orderly suspected to be an operative of the Department of State Security Services, DSS clutching a female handbag, trekking beside Miss Iniabasi Akpabio, the daughter of Nigerian Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has sparked debate on social media.
Iniabasi, Akwa Ibom State Director for City Boys Movement, grabbed headlines on the internet after she was photographed along with her orderly, during a recent event in the State.
While some netizens consider the behaviour of the 25-years-old woman as uncharitable and alien to African culture, others, tagged the operative henpecked.
A Facebook user, Oscar Bazuaye wrote: “What a country very unfortunate”, while Chris Ebehitale Ugbesea defended Iniabasi, stating that she “certainly didn’t ‘order’ the operative to carry her bag”.
“He must have done that of his own free will. And as for needing a DSS attachment, I think it’s standard practice for children of certain very high profile government persons to be protected”, according to Ugbesea.
Also, Ikechukwu Anumenechi wrote: “Because her parents are enemies of the masses so even their kids are not only poorly raised.
“They’re unsafe and the security officers have to be abused in doing their job like most PDP politicians are also culpable of the same malady”, he said.
Another Facebook user, Ralph E. Odua, bemoans the young lady, lavish appearance and lifestyle make people question the scale of the wealth allegedly stolen from public resources.
“To many observers, it reflects the excess and unchecked greed that often accompany corruption in Nigeria politics”, he said.
Similarly, Peter Gumedia wrote: “The real problem is that, when you people get the opportunity, all these criticism will be forgotten”, while Friday Okpo alleged that DSS are like boys brigade in Nigeria very big shame”.
