Gov Eno raises Corps members monthly pay to N20,000

Date:

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has raised the monthly allowance of serving National Youth Corps members serving in the State from N5,000 to N20,000.

The implementation, which is effective August 1st 2025, will support the Federal government’s ₦77,000 recently approved monthly allowance.

Eno made this announced this during Day Two of the State delivery meeting held on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Uyo.

The Governor revealed that the gesture would help 10,000 Corps members in meeting their basic needs and improve their welfare of Corps members deployed to the State.

NYSC was established in 1973 through an Act of Parliament, and it’s a one-year compulsory service scheme for Nigerian graduates below the age of 30.

The scheme was created to foster national integration, unity, and development by deploying young graduates to states outside their region of origin for community service, education, and nation-building efforts.
