FG explores UNIBEN technical teachers training

 

The Federal Ministry of Education has visited the University of Benin (UNIBEN) Technical Teachers Training Programme (TTTP) Faculty to assess facilities and manpower for the effective take off of the programme.

The Team leader, Mrs. Olaniyan Gbemisola, expressed satisfaction with the state of readiness by the University, which was selected as a centre for the teachers training.

She assured of the Ministry’s support to the University, which is amongst Nigerian Universities selected to kick-start implementation of the
inorder to get the programme, started and thriving.

In a statement from the Public Relations and Protocol Unit of the University, said Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Christopher Osubor, represented the Vice Chancellor at the visit.

Omoregie, pointed out that the TTTP aligns with the Vice Chancellor’s five-point agenda; one of which is to make the University of Benin a training hub for technical and allied disciplines as well as vocations.

He stated that he was glad that with the commencement of the programme, skills like carpentry, tiling, welding and bricklaying will be learned in a more systematic way and environment to make the beneficiaries more literate, proficient and marketable outside their immediate localities.

Other Principal Officers of the University and the Dean of the newly created Faculty of Technical and Vocational Education were at the event.
