ABUJA — Operatives of the Nigeria police Command in the Federal Capital Territory have arrested a clergyman, Pastor Edwin Nwabueze, and his alleged accomplice, Sadiq Jamiu, in connection with the theft of a Toyota Camry at UTC Plaza in the Garki District of Abuja.
The main suspect, who hails from Oji River in Enugu State but resides in Benue State, identified himself as a pastor with the Salvation Power Bible Ministry, located in the North Bank area of Benue, according to the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh.
Following sustained intelligence-led operations, police operatives tracked and arrested Nwabueze at his residence on October 27, 2026. Upon questioning, he led investigators to another location where Jamiu was subsequently apprehended.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Nwabueze is a repeat offender previously arrested by the Benue State Police Command over similar vehicle theft cases. Police say both men belong to a sophisticated interstate syndicate specializing in stealing and selling stolen vehicles across several states.
The suspects remain in police custody and will be charged to court upon the completion of investigations. Meanwhile, police operatives are tracking down other fleeing members of the syndicate.
Reacting to the arrest, the FCT Police Command, urged members of the public to remain security conscious and report any suspicious activities through its emergency hotlines: 08032003913 and 08061581938, or at the nearest police station.
