Elumelu misses step amid ‘presidential call’

The Chairman of United Bank for Africa, Tony Elumelu on Friday tip-toe when one of the beneficiaries of Tony Elumelu Foundation, TEF, called him out to run for the next President of Nigeria.

The top business leader who spoke at the 2024 TEF Programme tagged, “A decade of impact”, stated that he supports emergence of leaders, but, insisted that it’s impossible for everyone to be President.

Elumelu said this while reacting to a clarion call to contest presidential election from Adeyinka Tekena, a beneficiary of $5,000 non-refundable seed grant, which he described as ‘meagre’.

The 61-year-old Nigerian business Mongul said, “Do I want to run for Presidency?. All of us cannot be President. So, let us support. That is why we supported those in office and share ideas on how we can make Africa a better place”.

Continuing, Elumelu said, “Policy advocacy is strong . For us, each time we sit with African leaders, we tell them lets prioritize our young ones in Africa”.

“We cannot succeed in this 21st Century without promoting our young ones. We want to see a better operating environment so that all of us can excel”, Elumelu said.

A total of 1,104 Africans bubbling amazing feel,
have each won a $5,000 non-refundable 2024 entrepreneurship grant from the Foundation.
