Edo: Tinubu seeks robust legislative engagement

President Bola Tinubu has encouraged the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo to empower the Legislature and other vital government institutions throughout his administration.

He urged Okpebholo to justify the confidence placed in him and the APC while fostering true democracy and effective governance in the State, Stating that a robust and independent legislature is essential for achieving democratic good governance.

The Special Adviser to the President on (Information & Strategy), Bayo Onanuga in a statement, lamented attempt by Godwin Obaseki administration, which hindered its effectiveness for much of his tenure.

The statement, extended his heartfelt congratulations to Senator Monday Okpebholo on his inauguration as the Governor of Edo State.

The President urged Okpebholo to diligently work to enhance the living standards of the people of Edo State and make a significant impact during his tenure.

Tinubu also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for the successful conduct of the Edo Governorship Election.

He further encourage the Commission to strive for even greater excellence in Ondo State governorship Election, scheduled for November 16, 2024.

Meanwhile, Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State council, has congratulated Senator Monday Okpebholo and Hon. Dennis Idahosa on their swearing-in to office as the Executive governor and deputy governor of Edo State.

In a statement issued by Mrs. Nefishetu Yakubu and Elder Patrick Ahanor, Chairman and Secretary respectively of the Chapel, the group extended their best wishes to the Governor and his Deputy as they take up the responsibilities and challenges of the high offices.
