Edo market leader, Ogiamien hunts Okpebholo

The embattled leader of Edo State market Women Association, Blacky Ogiamien recently took a surprise visit to the State All Progressives Congress (APC) Secretariat in Benin City, seeking an audience with the Governor-elect of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

It was leant that the purpose of her recent visit is to parley, pledge her loyalty to Okpebholo
who wasn’t on seat when the uninvited guest, in the accompany of few gaily dressed women called at the Secretariat in Benin City.

APC source said Ogiamien made a forced gestures and laboured to convince a top party official (name withheld) to sign off a compromise with Okpebholo, make concession to retain the leadership position in the association after Governor Godwin Obaseki exit from office on November 12th 2024.

But the uncompromising
party official, according to the source, exposed Ogiamien’s clay feet, after recalling her atrocities in the past.

The development prompted her to mutter about and sneak out of his office with an uncertain career path.

One of the criticisms that stood out following the declaration of of APC Candidate in the September 21st governorship election in the State by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), when Ogiamien led a group of protesters to the INEC headquarters in Benin, requesting the Commission to void Senator Okpebholo:s mandate with his governorship running mate, Dennis Idahosa.

She was also caught on camera, berating INEC asking the Commission to declare Asue Ighodalo, Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the poll, before Ighodalo legal team filed their petitions challenging the framing of the election in court.

TheNewspad previously reported that some aggrieved members of Edo State market Women’s Association and traders Welfare Union moved against Ogiamien.

The members brave the odd in an unprecedented show of discontent, demanded Ogiamien’s sack during a peaceful protest to Oba Palace in Benin City where they displayed placards, reflecting their concerns.

The protesters also sang songs of courage that gave voice to their worries, condemning ‘evil Union in markets’ which they allege is behind increase in price of foodstuffs across markets in the State.

Spokesman for Edo traders Welfare Union, Comrade Lucky Orukpe, called for the immediate removal of Edo market women Association leader’s, citing alleged high handedness and failure to account for finances of the association.

Orukpe alleged that the funds include the sum of N100,000,000.00 (One Hundred Million Naira) donated to the association by Senator Adams Oshiomhole in his capacity as Governor of the State years ago, which the leader has yet to account for having found out the truth behind Ogiamien’s intrigues.

Another leader in one of the markets, Mrs Patience Asuen in feeling a range of emotion, passed ‘no confidence vote’ in the leadership of the Unions prompting them to seek the intervention of the Paramount traditional ruler in the State.

To prove her innocence, Blacky Ogiamien, previously, led a procession of traditional worshippers in Benin and swore loudly at some shrines, dedicated to the worship of deities.

She also asked ancestral spirits to bear witness over the allegations levelled against her, insisting that she has nothing to hide despite conspiracy theorists behind her ordeal.
