Edo jogger killed in hit-and-run accident

Tragedy struck when a jogger crushed to death by an oncoming hit and run vehicle on Benin-Sapele Road by Limit Road junction, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.

The Benin-based jogger was knocked down by the one-way driver of the car whose Registration Number cannot be immediately verified
at the notorious black spot around 6:15a.m.

It was leant that the driver of the vehicle initially made a detour shortly the incident apparently to take him to hospital for urgent Medical attention.

The driver, according to witnesses, had pulled backward and discovered that the victim lost his life battle, he quickly made a U-turn and sped off, to the befuddled witnesses.

A truck driver who simply identified himself as Mr Bright, said the skull of the keen jogger was removed during the crash, while the victim was abandoned on the pool of his own blood.

The witness who claimed to be commuting on a Commercial bus when the incident occurred on Benin-Sapele Road.

He said, “the head lamp of the vehicle, involved in the fatal crash, pulled off after victim’s skull was ripped open during the crash”.

Tearful onlookers and grieving commuters who wailed at the incident, were said to have redirected traffic in order to prevent multiple fatalities, ahead of the arrival of personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
