Edo APC denies members involvement in mayhem

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied involvement of its members in the mayhem that occured at Ogbe quarters in Benin City, Edo State.

The party also distance itself from attempt by mischief makers to link the party with violent Motor Parks clash at Ogbe quarters, resulting in bloodbath that was captured in a viral video where a man was reportedly shot on Sunday morning.

In a statement, Peter Uwadiae Igbinigie, the State Publicity Secretary, clarified that neither the party Edo State nor Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo did not authorized such unlawful and heinous act.

“It must be stated without equivocation that APC is not aware of such concocted desperation, neither did it mandated any of its members to do anything that is contrary to the established norms.

“That is, an incoming administration or government can not get involved in governance no matter how remotely connected, until the baton is exchanged; in this case until the 12th of November, 2024.

“As a matter of deliberate emphasis, neither the APC nor the Governor-elect, Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo instructed any person or group of persons to undermine this cast in stone norms.”

The APC held that the allegations were bogus and remains the handiwork of mischief makers to destroy its revered image, and that of the distinguished Governor-elect.

“Let it be noted that these bogus allegations remain the handiworks of mischief makers who are bent on tarnishing the revered image of our party, and that of the Distinguished Governor-elect.

After fact-checking the baseless as allegations, the APC calls on the police to discreetly and thoroughly investigate the baseless allegations and bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to book.

“Against the backdrop of the above stated facts, the party calls on the police to discreetly and thoroughly investigate these allegations, which have no iota of truth; and bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to book because APC detest crimes and criminalities within the State and among its fold”, the statement said.
