Edo APC campaign Council member dies

A member of the All Progressives Congress Campaign Council for the September 21, 2024

Edo State governorship election, Chief Frank Erewele Okafi is dead.

The tragedy is considered by some party faithful as a temporary setback against the winning streak of the party, which is gearing up to make a surprise comeback to Dennis Osadebey Avenue after losing the last gubernatorial election barely four years ago.

The departed APC Chieftain from Edo Central Senatorial District in the State, was one of the founders of the Grace Group that became known as All Congress of Nigeria, ACN made up the APC.

This was after the merger deal of the defunct All Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP and a breakaway faction of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in the build up of the 2015 Presidential election.

Dr. Rita Otibho Erewele, daughter to the late politician who announced her father’s death in a Post on social Media, said, “Dad, my heart is shattered into a million pieces as I say goodbye to you.

“You were more than just a father to me; you were my guiding light, my mentor, my hero, and my best friend.

“Your love, wisdom, and kindness shaped me into the person I am today, and I will forever be grateful for the time we had together.

“I will miss your warm smile, your infectious laughter, your jokes and the comforting hugs we shared.

“But I take solace in the memories we created, the lessons you taught me, and the values you instilled in me.

“Rest in peace dear dad “Okafi” as you were fondly called. May your journey be peaceful and may your legacy live on through me. I love you more than words can express”, Otibho Erewele said.

Okafi, remained in APC despite contrived political crisis that rocked the party at the toughest times until his demise few days ago.
