Drug user commits suicide behind Edo carnival

A suspected drug addict, identified as Mandali, has committed suicide induced by use of Colos — a mixture of strains of Cana: Colos, Loud and opioids soaked in raw gin after he returned from 2024 Christmas carnival in Edo State.

The yearly carnival was organized by youths and held on December 26th 2024 in Ofumwengbe street, off First East Circular road, Oredo Local Government Area of the State.

It was learnt that the victim plunged himself on a sharp object that impaled his head after consuming the psychoactive substance at his residence in the street, beside a popular Brothel on First East Circular road in the same LGA.

The incident left him with life threatening injury in the early hours of the day when help was not within his reach, according to a source that also told TheNewspad Reporter that his body was taken away for burial the following day.

The source said, “He (Mandali), was also said to have bled for hours before one of his friends, seeking a smoking a joint, found him the victim on a chair, in the pool of his own blood.

The development prompted the unidentified man to raise the alarm and team-up with his concern neighbours and his family to bury Mandali.

According to the source, “This was after he had lost a significant amount of blood”, according to an artisan who claimed to learned of the demise said, “He was said to have high in colos”.

The source also claimed to have had several encounter with the middle-aged man who lived alone.

‘He (Mandali) would have survived if someone was there to take him to hospital when he became unconscious.

“His is fatherless and his mother does not stay with him. He lived with smokers, but respectful”, the source stressed.
