The Commissioner of Police in Plateaue State, Bassey Ewah has raised the alarm over 64 minor-related rape cases documented within the past three months in some parts of the State.
He disclosed this while parading arrested criminal suspects on Friday at the police headquarters in Jos, the State Capital where he called on Non Governmental Organizations, NGOs and government to collectively step up efforts in the fight against sexual violence.
CP Ewah issued a stern warning to Divisional police officers, DPOs to arrest and prosecute anyone who attempt to settle rape cases out of court or interfere in investigations into rape cases in the State.
He also paraded suspected gunrunner and a gang of logistics supplier to terrorists’ alongside suspected cultists who were arrested by security agents in the State.
The Commissioner also paraded three suspects who were linked to the alleged murder of University of Jos, UNIJOS during the recent terror attacks.
According to him, ” we have a case of a young man Kelvin who was linked to the murder of UNIJOS students and two other suspects.
“And to the glory of God, we were able to track his phone number, and those suspected murderers are with us here. They will have their day in court soon”, according to CP Ewah.
