Cow overruns Delta govt House, workers injured

Two persons were reportedly admitted to a clinic on Friday August 1st when a cow broke loose, ploughed and badly gored the victims at the Delta State Government House, Asaba, the State Capital.

The cow meant for slaughter, was said to have turned on its tracks after lowering its horns and attacked yet-to-be named victims, raising serious security concerns to visitors and terrified guests who were set for merriment on Saturday morning.

Scores survive unscathed, but a middle-aged man that attempted to subdue the rampaging animal, and severely knocked down, has been referred to another hospital for urgent medical care.

A source revealed that the victim who was previously admitted to Delta State Government House Clinic due to the injury he sustained when the cow overrun the Government House.

The source told Leadership Newspaper that: “Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to an undisclosed hospital where he is currently battling for his life.

“Another victim, identified simply as Peter, a Cook in the Government House, also sustained injuries.

“The first two butchers called to slaughter the cow were unable to handle it and fled the scene.

“The critically injured victim was reportedly the second person called to take over the task,” a source within the Government House said.

Reports said the State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori has been duly informed of the development, but the government has yet-to respond to inquiry by TheNewspad Newspaper at the time of filing his report.
