Church Thanksgiving climaxes Igue festival

A special Thanksgiving to almighty God and royal ancestors by Omo N’Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, Oba of Benin at the Holy Aruosa Cathedral in Benin City on Sunday climaxed the 2025 Igue festival otherwise ‘Ugie’.

Oba Ewuare II was joined royal family members, Palace Chiefs and functionaries, Dukes (Enigie), village heads, various guilds, as well as Priests and Priestesses and groups at the service, where Aruosa church choir gave account of their stewardship to God.

In a sermon, the presiding Priest of Holy Aruosa Cathedral, Ohen-Osa Igbinoghodua Edebiri, decried breakdown of family values and surge in social vices especially amongst families.

He revealed that God has established the Benin throne in accordance to divine ordinance, noting thar doomsday awaits agents of destabilization in Edo State and Nigeria, ahead of the new year.

Ohen-Osa Edebiri also enjoined worshippers to refrain from unlawful and abominable act that capable of causing problems in society to avoid disgrace and the wrath of God.
