Benin Royal family disclaims alleged ‘imposture’

The Benin Traditional Council (BTC) has disclaimed Mrs Ivie Erhahon for parading herself as Princess (Mrs) Uwa-Igbinoba, thereby giving an erroneous impression that she is a member of Benin Royal family.

In a statement, Secretary, Benin Traditional Council, Mr Frank Irabor, alleged that Mrs Ivie Uwa-Igbinoba ― formerly known as Ivie Erhahon, previously took exemption to past warning to desist from parading herself as a Princess of the Benin Royal family.

The statement recalled that the alleged imposture was invited on Thursday December 12th 2204 to Oba Palace in Benin City where she was warned to desist from parading herself as a Princess of the Benin Royal family, but the warning fell on deaf ears.

The statement, which urged the public to be wary of the alleged imposture in this apparently impersonating capacity.

The Benin Traditional Council further clarified that “there is only one Royal family, which His Royal Majesty, the Oba of Benin is the head”.
