The Benin monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, has elevated Chief Imade Osamwonyi Amos to the prestigious title of Oshodin N’Ibiwe of Benin.
The royal recognition that recalibrates public perception of the title holder, manifested during the Ekponmwanbor (Thanksgiving) traditional rite at the Oba Palace in Benin City, with lively drumbeats and Benin ancient songs.
Formerly known as the Idukpaye N’Ibiwe of Benin, Chief Amos received the new title in recognition of his unwavering loyalty and dedication to his duties.
The ceremony comes ahead of the first-class traditional ruler’s 10th Coronation Anniversary celebrations, which run from October 3rd to October 25th, 2026.
During the brief outdoor ceremony at the Ugha-Ozolua axis of the Benin palace, Chief Amos was joined by fellow palace chiefs, family, friends, and well-wishers to pay tribute to the revered Royal father.
In accordance with ancient tradition, Oba Ewuare II conveyed his acceptance and best wishes through two prominent Chiefs: Osaro Idah N’ Iweguae of Benin and Osamwonyi Osagiede, the Ovienrioba N’ Iwebo of Benin.
Overwhelmed by the honor, the newly elevated Oshodin N’Ibiwe of Benin proudly proclaimed his new title, drawing cheers and jubilation in a vibrant display of rich ancient Benin culture.
