Benin monarch denies authorising assault on Obaseki’s Cousin, Pedro

Date:

Benin monarch, His Royal Majesty, Ewuare II, has denied authorizing alleged assault on former Governor Obaseki’s Cousin, Pedro Obaseki in Benin City, with a caution on social media users to endeavour to always verify their content.

Recall that Pedro, was allegedly attacked last Sunday by a mob in Benin City, for insulting the Benin Palace during meet and greet event in United Kingdom by former Governor of the State, Godwin Obaseki.

Secretary to the Benin Traditional Council, Frank Irabor said in a statement on Wednesday that Oba Ewuare II “cannot be authorized because it is not in the character of our revered monarch to do so” as a “peace-loving father to all”.

It advised youths not to take the laws into their hands on any issue no matter the degree of provocation, while urging them to always respect the laws of the land in all actions and utterances and allow appropriate Security Agencies handle all matters”.
