Bandits kill 2 Customs officers in reprisal attack

Two Customs officers were killed when Lakurawa bandits attacked local checkpoint at Bachaka in Kebbi State, leaving an unspecified number of persons injured.

On Tuesday’s attack in Argungu Local Government Area of the State, followed a reprisal attack by a combined security forces which neutralized two members of the sect the previous day.

Security sources said Customs officers were conducting routine inspection when they were ambushed by the hoodlums at the
Kebbi-Niger border.

Nafiu Abubakar, spokesman for the Nigeria police Command in Kebbi State who confirmed said three persons died when the bandits struck, did not disclose the identity of the victims.

He said, “Yes there was an attack and it resulted in the killing of two yet-to-be identified Customs officers and one resident of Bachaka”.

TheNewspad reports that Kebbi residents living at the border area while condemning the attack, have called for increase security presence in the area to mitigate attacks.

A blogger, Abdurahman Ibrahim Sahihi said in a post on social media, assured that State government has promised to work with security agencies to track down the perpetrators and prevent ward-off further attacks.
