Akpata: Edo govt yet-to attract FDI in 4 years

Citing the National Bureau of statistics Report, the Candidate of Labour Party in the September 21 Edo State governorship election, Mr Olumide Akpata has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party led-government of Governor Godwin Obaseki has yet to attract any direct foreign investment (FDI) to Edo State since the past four years.

But, the government has denied the claim by Mr Akpata through Governor Godwin Obaseki Special Adviser on Media Projects, Mr Crusoe Osagie.

Speaking in an interview on Channel Television at the weekend, the former President of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), berated Candidate of PDP in the forthcoming poll, Mr Asue Ighodalo for president over a side-rocking economy under Obaseki’s for over seven years.

Akpata appealed to electorate in Edo State to vote Labour Party in the 21st 2024 governorship election in order to restore the lost glory of the State that has been ruled for 25 years by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and PDP with little benefits to the people.

He said, “National Bureau of statistics tells us that Edo State has not attracted any direct foreign investment in the past four years.

“Obaseki has being a failure and mitigated disaster. The failure will always be some flashes of positives. But, we are talking about is on the whole (sum)”, he alleged.

The LP Candidate however assured that would create an enabling environment that will develop and make businesses to strive if elected.

He also promised LP government give priority to agriculture, education and healthcare and rural and urban electrification projects across the State.

“Why look at the LP’s direction? We (Edo people) need a better fresh air. We need something different. 25 years, PDP and APC have being running Edo State. In the last eight years, one man has being in both political parties. It’s abject failure.

“So, we must try something else; And Labour Party presents a total different approach to governance. Every government must ask itself, ‘we have being in power’, how does it impact the greatest number of people? That is the approach of Labour Party.

“.There is no strings attach to PDP. I do not have a godfather. That is why we should vote”, Mr Akpata said.
