Operative of Quick Intervention Unit (QIU)
in the Nigeria police Command in Abia State have arrested three robbery suspects at Umuagu during stop-and-search by the operatives by School Signboard in the State.
The suspects in an autorickshaw otherwise called tricycle (Keke NAPEP) marked MBL801VJ, blue in colour, carrying five occupants, including the rider, were flagged down by operatives at about 9:30p.m on 23rd August.
In a statement endorsed on Saturday August 30th by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka, identified the suspects from Imo State as Udaka Justin, male, 36 years, of Akata Village, Orlu East LGA, Chukwuebuka Michael Nnebedun, male, 24 years, of Arondizuagu, Ideato North LGA, and Prince David, male, 24 years, of Arodizuogu, Ideato North LGA.
The statement revealed that the rider pretended that the tricycle had developed a fault when stopped, giving room for two of the occupants to jump out and escape.
One (1) short locally made pistol, Three (3) live cartridges, One (1) double-edged machete, One (1) battle axe, One (1) black face mask, One (1) sachet of substances suspected to be Indian Hemp and One Auto-rickshaw (keke NAPEP) were recovered as exhibits from the suspects by the police.
The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa said the suspects had been taken into custody, while investigation is ongoing.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to reducing crime in Abia State to the barest minimum.
He also urge the good people of Abia to continue collaborating with the Police by promptly reporting suspicious persons or activities to the nearest Police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.
