A suspect, Chinedu Anamelechi, has reportedly shot his girlfriend’s brother, Ezinne Ariwodo dead, before stabbing two other relatives of the victims, when they got in an argument with one another in Abia State
The spokesperson of the Nigeria police Command in the State, DSP Maureen Chinaka who confirmed this in a statement, said Anamelechi, now at large, also stabbed his girlfriend, (sister to the deceased) and also shot another young man from the area during the fight.
The statement which did not reveal details of the brutal attack, said, the Command received information about an incident at Umuanga Amakama Community, Umuahia South LGA, involving one Chinedu Anamelechi, who allegedly shot dead Ezinne Ariwodo, stabbed his girlfriend, (sister to the deceased) and also shot another young man from the area”.
According to the police, “Upon receipt of the report, operatives of the Command swiftly raced to the scene, where they found the lifeless body of the deceased in a pool of blood with gunshot injuries’.
The police image maker said, “The injured victims were rescued and rushed to the hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment”.
“The deceased was confirmed dead by medical personnel and has been deposited in the morgue for preservation and autopsy”, according to DSP Chinaka.
The spokesperson also said, “normalcy has since been restored in the area and members of the community were advised not to take laws into their hands”.
Police said, exhibits recovered from the scene, while investigation is ongoing as efforts are in place to apprehend the suspect.
