Son arrested taking FCT promotion Exam for sick firefighter father

Date:

A 33-year-old man, Monsuru Musa, has been arrested in Abuja for allegedly impersonating his father, Musa Mohammed, to write a promotion examination on his behalf.

Monsuru was apprehended on Wednesday at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) venue during the third day of a promotion examination organized by the FCT Civil Service Commission.

Security personnel caught him following directives issued by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

During interrogation, Monsuru claimed his father, an employee of the FCT Fire Service, was ill and unable to attend, adding that he was instructed by his father to take the test.

But, conflicting details quickly emerged when Monsuru stated his father was 67 or 68 years old, whereas the senior Musa maintained he would turn 60 in February 2027 and noted he completed primary school in 1977 and secondary school in 1982.

Following the incident and initial statements taken by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), both father and son were handed over to the police for further investigation into the impersonation scheme and the discrepancies in their accounts.
