Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested Aliyu Suleman for his alleged involvement in the distribution of a dangerous illicit substance locally known as “suck and die.”
The 23-year-old resident of Tudun Salmanu was intercepted by officers attached to the Vehicle Crime Response Unit (VCRU) on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at approximately 5:00 PM in the Bayan Gari area of the Bauchi metropolis.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, the arrest was made during a routine intelligence-led operation.
During a search of the suspect, officers recovered 64 bottles of Methylene Chloride—commonly referred to as “suck and die”—alongside 17 pieces of rubber solution.
The items were immediately seized and registered as exhibits.
SP Habib noted that the suspect is currently in police custody, cooperating with investigators, and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the inquiry.
Reacting to the arrest, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to eradicating the distribution and abuse of harmful substances across the state.
He has subsequently directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police officers to intensify surveillance and crack down on illicit drug networks in their respective jurisdictions.
