A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State, Honourable Crosby Eribo, has expressed optimism that Saturday’s Local Government election will strengthen grassroots governance and deepen democratic participation across the State.
Eribo, who spoke with journalists shortly after casting his vote in unit 20, Ward 6, in Egor, said the Council poll was crucial to consolidating democratic institutions at the grassroots, urging political parties and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the exercise.
He described the electoral process as peaceful, orderly and encouraging, commending voters for their impressive turnout as well as electoral officials for ensuring a smooth exercise.
The APC chieftain also praised security agencies for maintaining law and order at polling units, saying their presence contributed to the peaceful atmosphere witnessed during voting.
Eribo expressed confidence in his party’s chances, adding that the APC had earned the trust of the people through sustained grassroots engagement and the delivery of its promises.
”Our expectation is clear—we are confident of victory because the APC has remained close to the people and has fulfilled its promises, ” he added.
